April is a busy month for the astronomy community. There a bunch of star parties on our list for April. There is also a big astronomy show in Suffern NY. NEAF has been a fixture in the area for years. It is especially popular because it is in the backyard of TeleVu eyepiece manufacturing and they have a big blowout sale at this show every year.
So break out your telescope, binoculars, and star charts in April and head out to one of these star parties. |

Texas Star Party
April 15-22, 2012
Near Fort Davis, Texas
The Southwest Region of the Astronomical League presents the 27th annual Texas
Star Party at Prude Ranch near Fort Davis in the Davis Mountains. Activities
include a full week of observing and astrophotography, invited talks, raffles,
swap tables, and daytime tours of nearby McDonald Observatory. Facilities
include cabins, bunkhouses, and RV hookups. The 3,500-acre ranch also offers
swimming, horseback riding, tennis and hiking. It is located a day’s trip away from Carlsbad Caverns and other national parks.

NEAF Astronomy Show

The Rockland Astronomy Club and Sky & Telescope magazine invite you to the East Coast's largest annual astronomy trade show, NEAF, now in its 14th year. The venue is Rockland Community College (RCC) in Suffern. Highlights include vendor exhibits, talks by leading amateur and professional astronomers, workshops for beginners and advanced hobbyists, door prizes, Starlab planetarium shows, and activities for children. The Spring Star Party at Kelling Heath

The Spring Star Party at Kelling Heath is now being organised by the Norwich Astronomical Society (www.norwich.astronomicalsociety.org.uk). The star party was initially purely an observing event aimed more at the experienced observer. However it is gaining popularity with over 100 pitches booked at the 2008 event and a number of trade stands present.

The South Pacific Star Party (SPSP) is an Annual gathering of Amateur and professional Astronomers from across Australia and the World. The SPSP typically includes formal daytime workshops, as well as formal and informal lectures, while evening events include observing, socializing, and public sky tours for those of you who are not so familiar with the stellar skyscape, or if you just want to view some of the more obscure objects in the sky.
